All graduating seniors should complete the First Destination Survey approximately one month prior to Commencement. If you cannot access the survey, please contact the Office of Career and Professional Development.

Apply for Graduation

The graduation application is in your Self-Service portal under the Graduation Overview Box. Indicate which term you will complete your degree.

  • After completing the application, you will receive an auto generated message letting you know we have received your application.
  • The application’s purpose is to inform the Registrar’s Office that you will have completed all requirements or will soon complete all requirements needed to receive your degree.
  • We use the application information to evaluate your progress and if all requirements are completed, we conferred your degree. If all requirements are not completed, we review your progress for a plan of completion (i.e. all courses are planned).
  • If any requirements are missing, our office will reach out via email and inform you and your advisor of any missing requirements needing to be completed.
  • Submitting a graduation application also allows our office to send you a RSVP link for  commencement and create your name card for the ceremony.
  • Your degree cannot be conferred until AFTER the term is over, see Academic Calendar for details.

Commencement

The commencement ceremony takes place once a year at the end of the Spring term. Students that completed requirements the prior Fall term and students enrolled in Spring, May or Summer terms can participate in Spring commencement.

  • This is an optional celebratory event for students and their families to attend.
  • Participating in commencement does NOT mean you have completed all requirements and your degree will be conferred.
  • You will not be handed your diploma at the ceremony.
  • For the ceremony, you will be walking with your first listed major.
  • Deadline for departmental honors is March 1st. Department chairs will send student information to Dean and Registrar for the notation in the program. Honors will be determined by submitted grades through the fall semester. Final honors (those that appear on the transcript and diploma) will be determined after all grades are entered.
  • You may use your preferred name on the namecard and ceremony.
  • Submitting your graduation application also lets us know to create your name card for the ceremony.

For commencement information visit the Commencement website.
